Idea of self-hosting apps is really intriguing me. You could easily get an open-sourced version of the service you usually have to pay for. Just turn it on whenever you want to use it on your local machine. Some of them could be a note, file converting app, automation tool or really anything that comes to mind whenever you tell to yourself:
-Do I really need to spend this much time on this task?
The note taking app I am using, Notesnook, might be an example for these kind of services.
Open-source is probably one of the best proofs of what sharing and working together can result as. Of course, that view might be just the surface of this community, and there are possibly some other stuff going on in the background. However, still it is my dream to make at least one open-source tool/product that would let me live 300 years.
-Do I need to be crazy good at what I am programming at or data structures and algorithms?
I don’t think so. It shouldn’t stop you from trying your best at the very least. DSA is a really wide topic I want to talk about in another post, after I gather my thoughts first.
